Question
I have been doing some research and noticed for the first time that my dog has 2 large scabs on his skin. I have a Shih Zu. Can you please tell me what over the counter medicine can I buy to help the scabs go away. I have read that it could be from grooming. My dog is groomed every 5-6 weeks.

Answer
Some dogs are sensitive to the clipper blades and others are sensitive to the shampoos.  If there are only a couple of scabs, then you can soak them in warm compresses twice a day to soften them.  If there is some type of skininfection or other problem causing them, then your vet will need to look at them to see just what needs to be done.
