Ask the Veterinarian/Watery Eyes

Question
I have a 6 month poodle and her eyes water most of the time and they have an odor. Is this normal?

Answer
It is not normal, but it is not unusual in a Poodle.  Many Poodles have not developed tear ducts that send the tears into the nose through a tube, and the tears will overflow onto the nose area. (when you cry or have a bad cold, there is drainage of tears into your nose).  Just keep it clean or put some vaseline along the bridge of the nose periodically to allow the tears to roll off the face.
