Ask the Veterinarian/cat problem

Question
I am looking after my Son's cat and I notice she smells at times. She is spayed. It is like the odor is maybe coming through the skin as the fur doesn't actually smell. My son said she smells when she is home as well as I thought it was because she is in a strange place but it looks like that isn't why. Thank you so much for any help you can give.

Answer
There are many reasons for odors in cats.  Rarely does their skin or coat smell unless she is rolling in something or eliminating on herself.  Cats with bad teeth and stinky breath lick themselves when they clean and can transfer the odor to the body.  Have the cat checked by the vet to see where the odor may be coming from.
