Question
The vet said our dog had an yeast infection, gave us mometamax for it. After giving the dog the ear drops for several days, he cannot hear now. His ears has been rinse out twice with a saline solution by the vet. she said that  there was a tear in one of his eardrums. Is there anything else we can do for him

Answer
Mometamax contains Gentamycin, which is very ototoxic when the eardrum is not intact.  It does not kill yeasts, so it is silly to even use it in a yeasty ear. Stop the drug right away. Many of these deaf dogs on Mometamax will get their hearing back in a week or two.  Make sure that your vet knows what happenned.
