Question
I was recently given a 2yr, female Yorksire dog, her ears are not erect. I am told that the hair on them has never been cut, if I were to shave them back now would her ears come up? She also scratches a lot, There is fleas on her and she doesn't seem to have dry skin, but she constantly digs at herself...any suggestion that you can give me is greatly appricated...thank you

Answer
Yorkies should have 1/3 of the hair on their ears cut at grooming time.  If they don't stand at 2 years, they are not going to.  If she is itchy, she may be an allergic dog or she may have some type of parasite or skin infection.  Check with your vet to see if she has allergies, what type, and the specific treatment needed.
