Question
I have a 10 year old golden retriever who recently started scratching the underside of her neck till it is raw and bleeding. she also seems to lay around more and is not very engergetic. since we just had a puppy to the vet for kennel cough, we cant take the golden right away for financial reasons. can you help me find a cause and treatment for my golden?

Answer
There are so many reasons for itching. In Goldens, many are allergic.  SO the best thing is to keep the area clean and to bathe the dog 2-3 times per week.  As soon as you can get her to the vet for a proper diagnisis and specific treatment, the quicker she will get relief.
