Ask the Veterinarian/water in ears

Question
I bathed my puppy this weekend and must have got water in her ears.  They are swollen and hard and she shakes her head trying to get the water out.  i do have an appointment already to see the vet,but does this have a name and what are some other reactions that could come out if not taken care of?

Answer
Water in the ears should not cause all of the symptoms that you are describing.  If there is an infection, then a specific medication will need to be prescribed.  IF there is an aural hematoma (a pillow like swelling of the ear flap) then surgery may be needed.  Take the dog to the vet for an exam.
