Question
i have 2 great pyrs. they have a yeast infection in their ears. i have been
cleaning them out with a mixture of peroxide, alcohol and apple cider
vinegar. also my vet recomends giving them Nizoral and ear cleaning solution
called Malaceb. my question to you is would this be ok to give them or should
i try switching their food? currently i have been giving them eukanuba lamb
and rice large breed. any food recommendations or other advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Answer
I would stay away from Malaseb in these ears. It contains chlorhexidine which can be very toxic inthe ears. (It does not say ears anywhere onthe Malaseb label).  You can try changing the diet as some dogs have food sensitivities.  In my experience, most dogs with yeast ear infections have atopic dermatitis and require a short course of steroid therapy along with the ears washes.
