Assembly of God/Remarriage

Question
I hope you can help me. My question is I have been married 2 times and just found my way to God. I live with a man that has also been married twice. He has backslid but is trying to find his way back. Would we be allowed to get married?

Answer
The views of various churches differ on this, so you need to discuss the circumstances with your Pastor. In the AoG remarriage is permitted but you should also realise that spiritually there are ties to previous partners still in place (Scripturally; man and wife are one flesh)and these ties will need to be broken and other issues dealt with if your marriage is to be a success.

The Scriptural view is that men and women should not live together prior to marriage, a sexual relationship is called adultery and for a Christian to willfully pursue such a relationship calls into issue your commitment. It is of course better that you should marry than be placed in a position where there is conflict in your relationship with God
