Question
What are some property guidelines and good activities at a reception for my new Lead Pastor who has just been elected from the Associate Pastor position at the same church?

Answer
Kolbie,

Thank you for the opportunity to help. Though I am not an AG member, I am familiar with many of their procedures. The following is a suggestion made in a AG paper. Though it is for a "new pastor" (someone who is from the outside of the church) I believe that the same honor should be given this "in-house" person as well. Here is the section on the installation, and suggestions for what to do...

"INSTALLATION OF NEW PASTOR
You may wish to set a date, shortly after your new pastor arrives, for an installation
service. The District Superintendent, or District Officer is available to preach the message and
conduct the installation of your pastor. The service is meaningful to both the pastor and
congregation.
SUGGESTIONS FOR INSTALLATION SUNDAY
* Provide a corsage and boutonniere for pastor and spouse.
* Plan a fellowship meal for the church (or) have reservations for pastor, board guests at a local
restaurant.
* Have a receiving line where the pastor and his family can greet each church member.
* Plan a grocery shower.
* You may wish to give a welcome gift.
These are just suggestions. You may appoint a committee to decide what you want to do."

Experience

I gave my heart to the Lord a few months after being married during a revival meeting. A few weeks later I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I have not been the same since! In those twenty five years we have only attended one church (Harvest Church), and there I have served there as an Elder for fourteen years. We minister in song with the choir and worship team. I am also the new member’s class coordinator, men's ministry director, and the Harvest Riders motorcycle ministry president. In 1993 the Lord called me to "...preach the Gospel where ever I open the door..." I have had the privilege of ministering God's Word to churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In those meetings we have seen the Lord save, heal, deliver, and fill people will His Spirit.

Organizations
I am ordained through Harvest Church, and with the World Harvest Ministerial Fellowship. I also am a licensed minister with the State of Oklahoma.

Education/Credentials
I am currantly enrolled with the Ames Bible College.
