Question
I have been divorced and have remarried. there was absolutely no chance of getting back together with my ex wife since she remarried.  I know I was called into the ministry at an early age (12) and I ran from God from 17-30 years of age.  I have received credentials from another organization.  My question is can I be credentialed through the A/G since I have been a member of A/G churches for the last 14 years?  I have attended CCIBS in Ft Worth TX as well as another bible school in FL which was affiliated with Church of God.

Answer
Bro Ron,

Thank you for your question. Before I answer, let me say that I thank God for your heart toward the things of God inspite of what anyone says or thinks. Far too many people in your position would simply succumb to the peer pressure that others would place upon them and not follow the leading of the Lord.

Ron, I am not sure exactly what you mean by "credentialed through the A/G"? If by this you mean to be a pastor then I would say no. The Ag will not allowed divorced people to hold office of pastor or deacon. If you mean as an evangelist, missionary, ect... then my understanding is that the AG will allow you to hold these offices.

As I wrote in my bio Ron, I am not a "member" of the AG church, but I am familiar with their their doctrines and beliefs. In saying this, I would like to suggest a few things.

1. Continue to seek the perfect will of God for your life. This should be every Believers driving and guiding force. Jesus said to "...seek first the kingdom...". In doing this He promised that "...all things..." would be added to us. This includes the gifting and callings. The Word also declares that the "...gifts and callings of God are without repentance." If God called you into the ministry, then that calling with without ending. It is true that we ourselves mau hinder and limited the fullness of that calling, but the calling is still there no the less.

2. Contact your local presbyter. This person may be able to give clear instructions as to how and what you would be allowed to do. However, as I am sure that you are aware the AG will not allow anyone who is divorced to be a pastor or a deacon. Though I have not found any limitations for divorcees on other ministry positions (evangelist, missionaries, ect...). Here is a link to the AG positional paper on this subject...

3. Follow the Lord. By this I mean do not allow anyone to place "man-made" restrictions upon you and the calling God has placed upon your life. I am not advising you to leave the AG (far be it for me to do such a thing). But God is not limited to just the AG. There are other Pentecostal organizations and churches that (depending upon the circumstance of your divorce) accept divorced people as ministers.

Bro Ron, I do hope that this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I will be standing in prayer with you.

Experience

I gave my heart to the Lord a few months after being married during a revival meeting. A few weeks later I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I have not been the same since! In those twenty five years we have only attended one church (Harvest Church), and there I have served there as an Elder for fourteen years. We minister in song with the choir and worship team. I am also the new member’s class coordinator, men's ministry director, and the Harvest Riders motorcycle ministry president. In 1993 the Lord called me to "...preach the Gospel where ever I open the door..." I have had the privilege of ministering God's Word to churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In those meetings we have seen the Lord save, heal, deliver, and fill people will His Spirit.

Organizations
I am ordained through Harvest Church, and with the World Harvest Ministerial Fellowship. I also am a licensed minister with the State of Oklahoma.

Education/Credentials
I am currantly enrolled with the Ames Bible College.
