Question I have accepted god as my lord and savior many years ago, there's nothing i want more then to keep following his word, be faithful and obedient. I have experimented with drugs then got addicted to pills. I also did meth, I am no longer addicted and have asked for forgiveness but i when the opportunity is there for me to take pills or do drugs i take it. I'v done this many times, then i repent and ask for forgiveness because i know what im doing is wrong. Then there was a time i seperated my self from god because i felt so ashamed and not worthy, but that was not the right choice. I need him in my life but will he keep forgiving me, when is enough enough. I dont do it intentionally or because i know he forgives, i just give in to that same sin every so often. My last question is do i wait till im sober to confess my sin and ask for forgiveness, because it is then that i most feel i need to pray and repent, does it count if im under the influence of these drugs.
Answer Hi Patricia
You pose some difficult questions, but be assured nothing can seperate us from the Love of God, he gives us this assurance in Scripture. Although we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembelling this is for our own good so we won't stray far from the path. God's plan for your life probably doesn't include addiction, but we have the assurance there is no condemnation in Christ J for those who believe and follow him according to the spirit. Therefore, even though you feel unworthy and guilty you have no reason to seperate yourself from him so seek forgiveness, repent and ask him to heal the addiction within you. Consult your Pastor and seek prayer counseling for your addiction. Keep yourself close to Christian friends and avoid your old ways
You say you are no longer addicted, however your actions don't follow this statement so seek intervention and a support group who can help you keep away from temptation. This addiction is spoken of in Scripture as a besetting sin and the underlying reasons for your behaviour need to be dealt with for you to be free, so seek prayer counseling
