Assembly of God/Conditional Immortality

Question
Yes well, I understand that.  I suppose you think I am being an argumentive smart alec, but I really didn't intend that.  My problem is that I see it clearly in the Word.  Can't 'unsee' it and don't know what to do with it since people consider it heretical.  Anyway, thanks for your time.

Question -
I am a member of an Assembly of God church and teach an adult Sunday School.  Though I have not shared it with anyone in my church, over the last couple of years I have become a committed believer in the conditional immortality of the soul.  WIth such men as William Tyndale, Isaac Watts, and even the proclaimed 'father' of the pentecostal movement Charles Parham believed this doctrine.  Why do you feel so many people find this doctrine disturbing?  Why do you think pentecostals lost this doctrinal distinctive that Charles Parham felt was so important?

Answer -
I think you may find that the AOG regards such doctrine as heretical

Very often you will see things in the Word which appear to contradict established belief. The reality is that this belief doesn't cut across the belief in Salvation through grace and so you can avoid dispute with others about it. It is when we feel we must debate and win that we place ourselves in the wrong position. The Lord told me once I desire above all else that there should be unity when I pressed him about an issue. Be sure that your belief doesn't originate from a single scripture and seek the Holy Spirit about it.

Remember Martin Luther didn't seek to be a thorn in anyones side when he posted his theses
