Assembly of God/Generational Curses

Question
Do you know where this doctrine of generational curses came from? I know which Old Testament verses are used to support it (and which are ignored because they condemn it) but when did it start being taught as a Christian doctrine?

Answer
Sorry Andrew.
It was before my time. I remember in the 80's people were getting carried away with that stuff. Because few churches (if there are any) that hold it as an official doctrine it would be very hard to locate it's ontology.

Pentecostalism has brought a lot of good stuff to the church in the last century, but because of and absence of checks and balances, and a general lack of education - both biblical and secular - there have been a lot of heresies that have come and gone also. Things have improved a lot in the last 20 years. There are benefits to this, but there was a real sense of awe and Kingdom Adventure back then that is hard to catch when we have all become slick professionals!

Blessings!

Matthew.

Expertise

The Assemblies of God in Australia is one of my favorite denominations. It has some variations from churches with the same name in other countries, but most of these are subtle. I can answer questions about the history and operations of this denomination in many countries.

Experience

I have ministered in 23 countries, often in AoG churches. I was trained for cross cultural ministry by the World Harvest Institute, which is the Missionary Orientation Program of the Assemblies of God in Australia.

Education/Credentials
I hold a B.A in Psychology/Sociology, and am currently completing my Masters in Teaching. I am a Graduate of the World Harvest Institute Missionary Orientation Program and have obtained other qualifications in Youth Work, Workplace Assessment and Training, Mentoring Church Planters, and many more.
