Question
yes , the bible does say that Jesus said
               I and the Father are one
but He{Jesus} also once prayed to his father{not to himself}
that they may be ONE as we are ONE
i'm sure he didn't mean they{the apostle} should become one person !  

Answer
When Jesus prayed that they (his disciples) may be one as Jesus and the Father are one, he was praying that they would have a close relationship.

My personal revelation is that I am one with God. This comes from a song he gave me. All believers are one with God in the spirit.

So, we are to be one woth God, and so, one with each other
