Question
I have had reactive airway disease aka asthmatic bronchitis for about 10 years. over the past few months I have been on prednisone 3 times and solumederol IV once and IM Once why are the side effects so crummy?

Answer
Kristine,
These are very potent drugs and therefore create some pretty nasty side effects. Most people who take Prednisone experience bad side effects and are usually only placed on it for short time durations when its absolutely necessary. It's best to talk to your doctor about any other possible treatments if the side effects are unbearable.
