Question
i have 28 cats which are living in the house and does not go out. i have asthma since 5 years old and since the past 6-7 months i have had asthma attacks very frequently, almost daily. My question is which of these two things causes the attack: a)cat furs or b)cat dander ?

By the way i'm 39 years of age. Thank you and have a nice day.

Answer
Hi Halim,

It is the cat dander. This is why there aren't any hypoallergenic dogs, cats, birds, etc. All living mammals shed skin, which is a protein substance, and allergies are over-reactions to foreign proteins.

By the way, should you get rid of the cats, the dander is so pervasive that it will take ~ 1 year of regular cleaning until you notice a difference. Better to take them to a shelter, and move to a fresh, clean dwelling.

Good luck!
