Question
I just had a CT scan and it was reported that there is some apical pleural fibrosis. Can this be associated with Asthma? My mom has very bad asthma. If so would a inhaler be all that you would need to help? Thank you

Answer
Hi Debbie,

From my understanding, this is not asthma related. Tissue changes that take place in asthma is thickening and destruction of the basement member of the air passages. This generally develops later in life. Have you ever been tested for cystic fibrosis?

My training is this area is very limited, and the best recommendation I can make to you is to be under the care of a board certified pulmonologist.Contact your insurance company to find one in your area.

I'm sorry I can't help you more, but it would be inappropriate to lead you astray.

Sincerely,

Marc
