Question
I have incredible night sweats from my waist to the top of my head.  I was just diagnosed as having asthma 1 1/2 weeks again.  I have beem put on corticosteroid and ventolin.  Will the meds help to reduce or obliterate the night sweats?

Answer
Hi Nancy,

Sorry for the delay. Never got the posting to my phone email.

There is not a correlation between night sweats and asthma. There is a strong tie between viral infections and asthma attacks. I had similar night sweats from coming down with mononucleosis. I was soaking towels nightly for oaver a week. That infection then transitioned into a CMV (cytomegalovirus) infection.

In the intro to my background is a request for patient history. I really need mor information to guide you, and ask that you fill in further background.

Also, if you can, I'm hoping your doctor did bloodwork on you, especially a CBC with differential (complete blood count with a breakdown of the different white cell counts). If this was done, as it should have been, see if you can get me the values. Also, on what basis was the diagnosis of asthma made? Spirometry, other lung function testing, symptoms?

Have a happy, and healthier New year.

Merry Christmas.

Marc
