I was born 5/10 at 12:25 PM in NYC.  I have always been told my rising sign is Leo.  However, in different horoscopes some show my 1st house being Leo and some show it as Virgo. Which house is my 1st? Also have Mars in Leo.  Which house is it in?

However a simple answer is this: There are two zodiac systems - one is based on the seasons of the sun - and this is the one prevalent in western astrology. The other is based on the actual constellations of the zodiac, and this is prevalent among eastern astrologers.

Secondly there are different systems of drawing house boundaries. What makes your first house X in one house systems could potentially make it Y in another system.
