Question
QUESTION: I read somewhere that your rising sign can "progress" to another sign?  Also, from reading your answers here, I see that other signs and planets progress as well.  What does this mean?  Could you tell me what mine are?

ANSWER: Carmen,

Yes, progressed natal chart can be done, in this case,
secondary progressed (most common progressed).

For example, the Moon's average daily motion is about
12 degrees in any given sign (30 degrees per sign).

This yearly motion (progressed--which is the daily
motion figured as yearly--12 degrees per day =
12 degrees per year progressed) translates into 1
degree per month progressed. That comes out to about
90 degrees every 7 years for the progressed Moon.

Your progressed rising sign (Ascendant) at this time
is approximately 8 degrees Gemini. Your progressed
Moon at this time is about 12 degrees Taurus.
Your other progressed planets at this time:
Sun 19 degrees Aries
Mercury 00 degrees Aries
Venus 24 degrees Taurus
Mars 29 degrees Gemini
Jupiter 1 degree Sagittarius
Saturn 7 degrees Capricorn
Uranus 12 degrees Leo
Neptune 6 degrees Scorpio
Pluto 1 degree Virgo

I'd pay a lot more attention to the progressed Moon vs.
the other progressions, FYI, especially when the
progressed Moon hits the angles (houses 1, 4, 7, 10).
Your progressed Moon will hit your natal 4th house in
less than 5 years, which is an important time for big
changes, depending on the other 100s of considerations.

Please keep in mind that progressions, in my view
are only for firming up an existing analysis and that
you can't expect decent levels of accuracy by using
them exclusively.

QUESTION: Thank you very much, Scott, for your explanation.  What does this all mean?  Am I an Aries now?  Angles, houses, I'm confused.

"Your progressed Moon will hit your natal 4th house in
less than 5 years, which is an important time for big
changes, depending on the other 100s of considerations."

What is my natal 4th house? "depending on the other 100s of considerations"  I don't get this answer, it's sounds like guessing...?

Answer
Carmen,

What does it all mean? By itself, very little.
Really, progressed charts are minor symbolic influences.

You are what your birth charts say you are, not what
your progressed charts indicate. :)

Angular houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th. They are
the most symbolically potent houses.

Your rising sign (Ascendant) is the cusp (beginning point)
of your 1st house.

Your natal 4th house is the 4th house (there are 12 houses
in every basic chart) in your birth chart.

It's far from guessing. You have to weigh all indicators
--there are hundreds of indicators. For example, if I see
85% of all love life indicators/considerations that symbolize
a very rewarding love life, then I'm confident that's what
the person will have.

This is pattern recognition--there are many layers.

Hope this helps,
Scott

Expertise

Please note: I DON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. That means if you ask for a free reading, your question will be rejected.

I'm happy to answer general astrology questions, such as identifying a particular Moon sign or Sun sign that happens to be on the cusp, or identifying an Ascendant (Rising sign) or a ruler (or rulers) of a particular house, etc.

As an example, you might ask, "My 7th house (house of partnerships, relationships, etc.) cusp sign is Virgo, so which planet rules the house considering I have no planets in that house?"

Or, you might ask, for instance, "My natal Sun is on the cusp, in which sign is it?"

Again, I WON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. Also, if your question relates to modern, psychological astrology, I won't answer it since the bulk of my predictive work is done using more ancient forms (I find them far more accurate). I won't answer questions about Chinese astrology or Vedic/Hindu astrology either.

My expertise involves the application of ancient forms of astrology (and numerology) to interpret personal fate, and assess personality and compatibility. http://www.scottpetullo.com http://www.mystictwins.com
