QUESTION: I know this seems like a simple question, but is there a way for me to just figure out what house I was born in?  I have looked at charts that I don't understand and have tried to figure it out, and I'm still not sure.

ANSWER: Hi Tara,

OK, first understand that there are 12 houses in the natal horoscope and that based on your date, time, and location of birth, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and other heavenly bodies each fall in one of those houses.

You might have Sun in the 7th, Moon in the first, Venus in the 2nd, and so on, so you don't just relate to one and only one house.

However, for example, I can tell you in which house your Sun resides, or which house is most strongly linked to your house of money (2nd house) by way of the ruler of the house, which will give you some insight about your finances.

If you would like for me to tell you in which house your Moon, Sun, or other planet resides, you would have to tell me your date of birth, exact time of birth, and location of birth.

Sure, you're welcome.

Although you didn't indicate which planet you would like to know about (regarding the houses), I'll assume you want to know in which house your Sun is located. You might say "I am a Leo," meaning your the Sun was in the sign of Leo when you were born.

At the time and location of your birth, the Sun was in your 4th house, the house of family, generally speaking.

Moon in Capricorn in 9th (house of higher education religion, foreign travel, etc.), Mercury in Cancer in 3rd (house of communication, siblings, etc.), Venus in Gemini in 2nd house (house of your money, etc.), Mars in Libra in 5th house (house of children, social life, entertainment, etc.), Jupiter in Virgo in 5th house, Saturn in Virgo in 5th house, and Ascendant (Rising sign on the eastern horizon at the time and location of your birth) is Taurus. There are many other indications, but those are some of the basics.

Your 5th house is emphasized fairly strongly with those three planets in it.

Venus (being in your 2nd house, the house of your money) in Gemini ruled by Mercury, and Mercury (in your 3rd house of communication, siblings, etc.) ruling Gemini, and the sign on your 2nd house cusp (the start of the 2nd house) are strongly related to your finances. However, please understand that is just a glimpse and that there is much more to it. I don't do readings here, sorry, as I say on my AllExperts profile.

QUESTION: This is all so fascinating.  Thank you so very much; I did read that you don't do personal readings, which is why I didn't include my birthdate at first.  

I guess my only other question is, are the signs/houses (Cancer/3rd house for example) a reflection of time?  As in today is February 28, the sign of Pisces), so are we in the second house right now, or is it different for each individual?

The signs/houses are a reflection of time, but it's unique to the location and time. For example, the 4th house cusp is different in Boston vs. Tokyo at the same moment.

Sun in Pisces right now in Denver is late in the 8th house. Sun in Pisces right now in Boston is in the 7th house. At dusk, the Sun dips below the 7th house cusp into the 6th house. After dawn, it rises into the 12th house.

Also, it's different for each individual. Right now, the Sun is in your 11th house (your natal chart). Hope that helps and feel free to rate my answers.  

Planets in the signs are unique only to the time, not location. Mercury 12 degrees Aquarius is the same everywhere right now on the planet.
