About Zane B Stein
Expertise
I WILL BE HAPPY TO answer questions about astrology in general, the meanings of planets, signs, houses, aspects, asteroids, Chiron, etc. I use Western, Tropical Astrology. Please do not ask me questions about Vedic Astrology as I am not an expert on this.

I WILL NOT ANSWER PERSONAL QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR INDIVIDUAL CHART, such as "Will I get rich?" or "Will I get married?", or "Are we compatible?" I do have a private astrological practice, and if you need to ask those type of questions, contact me privately and we`ll discuss a possible astrologer/client relationship. Also, I cannot answer questions about Vedic Astrology, or Chinese Astrology.

Also, astrology is NOT "What is my lucky stone?" or "What is my lucky color?" or "What are my lucky numbers?" Any astrologer who gives you a lucky object, or number, based on your chart, is not a real astrologer, but someone who is giving in to superstition. In order to find out how to enhance your luck, you need to have an astrologer look at your whole chart, and tell you what areas you need to focus upon, how to accent your positives, and work to resolve any problems that exist.

Experience
I've been involved with astrology since 1969, taught classes on several occasions, written a number of articles and one book, and lectured around the USA, in Canada, Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland.

Subject: Mars conjunct venus, but mars square saturn (sun opposite moon)

Question
Dear Zane, I would like to know if Mars conjunct venus is the most important indicator of sexual compatibility? The guys' Mars is conjunct my Venus (in gemini), very close by orb. However, his Mars (gemini) square my Mars (virgo). And, his Mars (gemini) square my saturn (virgo). I would like to find out from you, if Mars-Venus conjunction is the most important in sexual compatibility or will Mars square saturn destroy it and lead to aggression and conflict? I will also like to seek your advice on whether Sun-moon opposition is desirable, or harmful for a long-term, lasting love relationship? I ask this because the guy in question, a Pisces has capricorn moon that oppose my Cancer sun. He is now pursuing me. I am very confused.

Answer
Hi, Koh,

It is easy to be confused when dealing with relationship astrology, because each person is complicated, with many different facets to their personality.  One part of them can get along with one part of another person, but another part can be in conflict....and this is reflected in the charts.  Thus you see both positive and difficult aspects between the two charts.

And it is very difficult to answer your question as it was asked, because there is no SINGLE aspect between charts that is the most important, no matter how close it is.

Venus in one chart conjunct Mars in the other chart is, of course, a strong attraction.  You desire to draw him to you, and he feels desire towards you as a result.  It is a good bond for sexual compatibility, to be sure.

Mars square Mars is not a problem. It does show that the two of you have different ways to resolve problems, different ways to attack issues, and different ideas of how a person should assert themselves, and so there can be a locking of horns on a regular basis. But it can be stimulating,
nonetheless. I've seen this type of aspect in people who often argue, and find they have intense physical relationships afterwards.

If the two of you have Mars square Mars, this also implies that, natally, you have Mars in Virgo square your own Venus in Gemini. This shows that on some level, you need a bit of friction in your relationships...that you need a bit of a clash from time to time so you don't get bored.

But the question I have is this:  if his Mars is square your Saturn, does that mean you have Mars conjunct Saturn natally?  IF you do, then
it would be perfectly normal for you to attract someone who has Mars square your Saturn....you would be drawn to people like that.  True, this also can stir arguments, and he may at times feel a bit frustrated in trying to express himself uninhibitedly, but these are things you two could work out over time. It might be more of an adjustment for him than for you, unless he also has a strong Saturn in his chart, in which case he would be drawn to you partly BECAUSE of that Saturn influence.  I wouldn't see it as leading to aggression, although as I said, there are going to be arguments.

Sun Moon opposition is probably one of the most positive aspects for longterm relationship IF THE TWO PEOPLE ARE MATURE.  If not, then it leads to an ongoing power struggle. If you are both mature, it leads to clearly defined roles, each of you knowing exactly what part you have in the relationship, and each supplying what the other lacks.

I hope the above helps.

Best wishes,
Zane
