Hi Chris,

I checked two other sources and verified that you were born during the month of the Dog and day of the Monkey.

Why the discrepancy? Well, some astrologers use solar and others the lunar calendar. I use the lunar calendar.

Anyway, there are Four Pillars, year, month, day and hour of birth. They are "equals"; however, the year sign is first among equals. So, year animal and element take precedence over the others.

There is an exception, but is doesn't fit your case. In fact the opposite is true. The exception is if two of your other 3 signs are from the same group. Their combined influence could override the year sign. You, however, have another sign (Monkey) from your year sign (Rat) compatibility group, which strengthens your Rat. And, your month sign is Wood, which strengthens your Wood year sign.
