Astrology/Double Dragon/Horse + Dog/Double Snake= Love Ever After?
Expert: Bill Hajdu - 10/5/2009
QuestionQUESTION: Dear Bill,
Thank you so much for offering your expertise in Chinese astrology. My partner and I are very much in love and we are beginning to make plans for our future. Although our Western astrology seems to encourage our union, Chinese astrology has raised scary red flags: I am a dog and my partner is a double dragon. I will add that his day pillar is in horse, while my month and my day pillars are in snake, and my hour is in pig. Could these be balancing factors in comparing our charts or is this plain bad news to you?
His Birth Info: 1976, August 29, 7:15am. According to Feng Shui Institute Free Chinese Astrology Chart his four pillars are:
Year: Fire Dragon
Month: Wood Goat
Day: Water Horse
Hour: Wood Dragon
My birth info: 1982, May 10, 9:45pm. According to Feng Shui Institute Free Chinese Astrology Chart my four pillars are:
Year: Water Dog
Month: Wood Snake
Day: Water Snake
Hour: Water Pig
Thank you very much for your time and comments!
ANSWER: Hi Anastasia,
From a Chinese Astrology perspective this match miraculously has a 62% favorable compatibility rating, which is very good.
I looked at all four of your pillars, your complete charts, to establish this rating. That is why my rating differs dramatically from what "the book" says about a Dog-Dragon match.
Don't get me wrong; there will be plenty of misunderstandings and clashes of will.
Before I go any further I need to clarify something. According to my calculator, and confirmed by Kwok, Man-Ho's tables, he was born during the year of the Fire Dragon, month of the Fire Rooster, day of the Water Ox and hour of the Fire Dragon.
I've seen one astrologer argue the month pillar is the most significant for evaluating relationships. His Fire Rooster is a perfect match for your Wood Snake. Another positive is your element matrices complement each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses.
There is one exception to the last point. There isn't much Water in your two charts. This could result in communications difficulties. That compounds the problem of clashes of will with all those strong Dragon, Ox and Snake signs. Also, his Rooster could make him a bit argumentative.
At first glance this match does indeed look like a fatal attraction to be avoided. Considering the overall charts, however, I conclude it is a match worth pursuing. Keep in mind, you will both have to make a big effort over time to make it work.
I rarely say this, but given the challenge this match presents, I recommend you order a detailed relationship analysis. You can get one at my site, www.onlinechineseastrology.com for a modest charge. Regardless, please visit my site. Also, to learn more about relationships, I highly recommend Shelly Wu's Chinese Sexual Astrology.

QUESTION: Dear Bill,
I realized I made a mistake in his information, I'm so sorry! His birth information is actually JULY 29, 1976 at 7:15 am, and not August.
Do these signs and elements balance out as well?
On another note, I visited your site but wondered which relationship analysis report you were recommending. Could you tell me the name of it, please?
Thank you very much for your time and comments!
AnswerHi Anastasia,
I'm afraid the true compatibility rating is 46%, which is below average. There is thus less than a 50-50 chance of this match lasting and bringing you the happiness you seek.
The relationship analysis is called a Love Match Reading.
Thank you for your question.
