A variable, or indicator, or factor, or symbol,
etc. is a sign that provides meaning.

For example Sun in Pisces is an indicator. Sun
in 10th house is an indicator. Sun's ruler
in 8th house is an indicator. Sun's secondary
ruler in 4th house is an indicator. Sun
opposed to Sun's South Node is an indicator.
And the list goes on.

Between the comprehensive numerology and
astrology charts, there are over 500 indicators.
Some are positive, some are negative. The
analyst must review all indicators to get
a clear idea of the matter at hand.

You weigh the multiple factors when you review
the comprehensive charts. Some are positive,
some are negative, for any particular area
of life.
