Question
QUESTION: I am: Jan 07, 1986 @ 23:45 (longitude about -121.5)
My husband: Jan 29th, 1980 12:20 (-122)

Also, when I am reading a zodiac horoscope, which sign should I be using from the four pillars?

Thanks so much!

ANSWER: Hi JD,

You were born during the year of the Wood Ox, month of the Earth Rat, day of the Water Rat and hour of the Metal Rat.

Your husband was born during the year of the Earth Sheep, month of the Fire Ox, day of the Metal Ox and hour of the Wood Horse.

Unfortunately from a Chinese Astrology perspective this match has a 35% favorable, compatibility rating, which is significantly below average.

It is especially troubling the his Sheep year sign is the worst possible match for your Ox as is his Horse hour sign the worst possible match for your Rat. Another major problem is you have three signs from the Rat-Dragon-Monkey compatibility group, and he has none. It's likely he will not be able to satisfy many of your Rat needs, especially those involving mental stimulation.

I'm afraid there probably may be a lot of misunderstandings, stubbornness and clashes of will in this relationship.

It can last and bring you the happiness you seek, but, to be honest, the odds are against it.

By the way, the ancient Chinese Astrology hour is two hours long, and the new day begins at 11pm modern time. Thus I used Jan 9th, midnight, for your date and time of birth.

QUESTION: Thank you for that very thorough answer. I was also wondering - when I am reading zodiac horoscopes, which of my four pillar animals should I be using? The year animal or one of the other ones?

Thanks again.

Answer
Hi JD,

The year pillar, for you Ox, is first among equals. However, since you have three Rat signs, those are likely to predominate over your Ox. So, when checking or reading about your signs, you want to give the greatest importance to what the text says about the Rat.

By the way, Rat and Ox are complementary (as in complementary angles in geometry) signs, so you have two, very different sides to your personality. This is good as it gives you a great range of abilities and a wide comfort zone.

Good luck to you.

Expertise

Chinese Astrology. I`ve done Chinese astrology for over 20 years, pimary experience Ming Shu style. I am NOT a psychic. I can't answer questions about when a particular event will occur, when/if your life will change, or what your spouse is going to be/look like. I do comment on relationships, career, personality analysis and life cycle chi, i.e., energy level and influences at each of the five stages of life. I evaluate specific relationships or can look at your love life in general. I can tell you your best career choices and whether the one you've chosen is good for you. And, I can identify the strong and weak times in your life. I've done work for Yahoo, astrology.com and onlinechineseastrology.com.

Experience

I've studied Chinese astrology for over 20 years now and done several thousand charts. My specialty is four pillars method, particularly as applied to evaluating relationships. I've also done Nine Star Ki and readings using Mah Jong tiles. My next step is to learn Purple Star astrology. It identifies many more chart details, but accurate readings are time consuming and dependent upon a lifetime of acquired experience.
