I have a major transit coming up which I know will be a transformative period but I am not sure how.  My Transiting sun will conjunt my natal Pluto in the first house next year. My ascendant is Leo and I have pluto at zero degrees on the first house cusp of Virgo.

I was born on July 1, 1958 in Brooklyn NY at 9:45 Am (Kings county)

I dabble in astrology but am not familiar witht this transit other than hearing it is a major transit.  Can you explain this for me.  Thank you.

Sun transits are irrelevant, they can trigger heavier transits, and that's it.
Transitting Sun conjuncts natal Pluto once a year for roughly 2 days, there is nothing major about this.  

A major transit would be Transitting Pluto aspecting your Sun, and this won't happen before a couple of years, when Pluto reaches 10 degrees in Capricorn.
