Answer
Hi David,

You were born during the year of the Wood Ox, month of the Wood Rooster, day of the Water Horse and hour of the Water Tiger.

She was born during the year of the Fire Rabbit, month of the Wood Snake, day of the Water Rat and hour of the Metal Ox.

From a Chinese Astrology perspective this match has a 59% favorable, compatibility rating, which is good but not great. It has a decent chance of lasting and bringing you the happiness you seek.

Strengths: Lots of strong signs, and the overall element balance is complementary. You cover each others' weaknesses. There is lots of Wood in your two charts. It is the element associated with making compromises and being good hearted---a real plus in relationships.

Weaknesses. You have two signs from the Tiger-Horse-Dog compatibility group, and she has none. That constitutes a significant part of your personality/behavior, a side she won't easily be able to satisfy or relate to. She has two cerebral signs, Snake and Rat, and you have none. You may not be able to satisfy all her intellectual needs. Most importantly you have two, disastrous, matches. Your Rooster month is the worst possible match for her Rabbit year sign, and her Rat day sign is the worst for your Horse day sign. These pairs of opposites represent lots of inherent conflict, clashes of will, and misunderstandings. This is going to be a bumpy relationship in spite of its overall positive compatibility. The one most likely to give you difficulties is the Rooster-Rabbit one. Rooster tends to like to argue and nitpick while the Rabbit absolutely hates conflict of any sort. Also, her Snake and Rat don't particularly have any patience with Rooster antics.

It is thus really important for you to read up on all these signs, especially Rooster and Rabbit. A very good book is Theodora Lau's Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes. You're going to have to keep your Rooster side in check if this relationship is to last. Also, all your signs are strong, while she is more balanced with two gentle and two strong. Her Rabbit will be repulsed if you come on too aggressive too often.

This match will probably alternate between being immensely satisfying (your Rooster-Snake month sign compatibility is outstanding for example) and a big headache. It will be up to both of you to make a lot of compromises so the good outweighs the bad overall.

Expertise

Chinese Astrology. I`ve done Chinese astrology for over 20 years, pimary experience Ming Shu style. I am NOT a psychic. I can't answer questions about when a particular event will occur, when/if your life will change, or what your spouse is going to be/look like. I do comment on relationships, career, personality analysis and life cycle chi, i.e., energy level and influences at each of the five stages of life. I evaluate specific relationships or can look at your love life in general. I can tell you your best career choices and whether the one you've chosen is good for you. And, I can identify the strong and weak times in your life. I've done work for Yahoo, astrology.com and onlinechineseastrology.com.

Experience

I've studied Chinese astrology for over 20 years now and done several thousand charts. My specialty is four pillars method, particularly as applied to evaluating relationships. I've also done Nine Star Ki and readings using Mah Jong tiles. My next step is to learn Purple Star astrology. It identifies many more chart details, but accurate readings are time consuming and dependent upon a lifetime of acquired experience.
