Astrology/Signs sharing one house
Expert: LeLonni Campbell - 6/8/2010
QuestionQUESTION: I am trying to teach myself astrology and I've come up with a question.
If two signs share a house, say for example, Virgo and Libra share the 7th house, and a planet is moving from Virgo to Libra but remains in the 7th house, how is that transit from sign to sign in the same house interpreted?
Thanks so much.
ANSWER: Learning astrology without a teacher can be difficult, you can teach yourself that's for sure, but someone who can help you or at least learn with you can be an advantage. If I understand your question correctly your concern is if the planet moves from one sign to another does it make a difference in how it acts in that house, the one its transiting. the answer is yes and no, if Saturn for example is in the 7th no matter what sign it is in, its having an affect on that house, you can have many interpretations for how it will act, most of those interpretations will be reflective of what aspects Saturn makes while its in the house, for example if Saturn is squaring the natal Venus while its in the seventh that would be a strong sign that a relationship is in trouble, on the other hand if Saturn is trining Venus it could indicate a time of making a commitment to a relationship. As Saturn changes its sign its changing its relationship to the natal planets. So yes as a planet changes sign it does have a different "feel" so the transit may manifest on a different level, but the base of the transit will work on the area of the chart its in and its relationship to the natal planets in the chart. I hope this has helped you clear up your question.

The answer was perfect. Thank you. Unfotunately there is no teacher in my area. I was even looking at Kepler College but they have closed and are doing teach-outs.
I am taking an online class this summer with a woman on relationship astrology and I am going to ask her if she will be teaching other classes.
I've been studying on my own for awhile, and doing OK, but I definitely miss the nuances. Thank you again and if you have any suggestions on books for me please let me know. I did get Noel Tyl's book Synthesis and Counseling but it's much too advanced for me.
If you don't mind one more question. Which is the best way to predict? For instance, I have been looking at the progressed charts and solar arc and then the transits and have used all three. I see if there are any aspects that are common to all three and if there are common aspects to all three charts, then I know something is definitely happening. Is this a good method to start?
Thank you so much for your kindness.
AnswerWhere do you live, what part of the the country. If you even have questions please feel free to ask.
The two books, actually a lot more than that, but these two are like bibles to me are, Donna Cunningham's Astrology a guide to self awareness, anything she writes is terrific. I also love Steven Arroyo and his book Astrology, Karma and Transformation is terrific as is his book on the elements. I think you can learn as much from those books as you can from any beginners class.
I don't use Solar Arc's often, not that I don't think they work, its just not my method. I use secondary progressions and transits, if I see something I want to confirm I use the Solar Arc then as well as the return charts, I also progress Solar return charts for timing. To me the art prediction needs for you to understand the art of interpretation. Without that you don't have the ability to predict, a person has to have a interpretation towards an experience for it to occur. I also do not dwell as much on what an event is as much as what the life lesson is, I also tend to look at what the natal pattern is that is being set off. For example, I just had client with marital problems, he has a natal Venus Neptune conjunction in Scorpio, that was not being affected at all, but it, along with aspects to it, was a focal point in his chart, he likes to rescue and enable people but because of the Scorpio overtone he expects them to lean how to care for themselves, that is not always expressed so he ends up the caretaker and resents it. Also Scorpio is a sign of transformation so anyone a Scorpio touches will change, the personalty often forces that changes on the other person. He had 7th house transits I felt would set off his conjunction, so we talked about what created the situation he was experiencing as that was the important things. Think of people as an alarm clock our time is set for certain experiences when the planets hit sensitive spots in the chart the alarm goes off, if you don't wake up you tend to have more problems than if you wake up and react to what is going on. We all have lessons and spiritual growth to attain in this life, and others, so I look at it all more in the way of how we handle this, most of this comes from my belief that only thing we do have control of is how we react to what life hands us.
