Question
QUESTION: Hi Bill, I am a female Aquarian fire horse, born 8 Feb 1967. I have just met a new man (S), his date of birth is April 20 1970, which I think makes him an Arian dog. Could you please tell me if we are compatible and if a long-term relationship might work out.  Would he be a good influence on me? Also, can you give me any tips on how to get closer to such a person. We have only mef a few times buf i feel a srrong connection with him. Thank you very much, Ali

ANSWER: Hi Ali,

You were born during the year of the Fire Horse, month of the Metal Ox and day of the Water Rabbit.

He was born during the year of the Metal Dog, month of the Metal Dragon and day of the Metal Horse.

This match has a 52% favorable, compatibility rating, which is just slightly above average. It has about a 50-50 chance of lasting and bringing you the happiness you seek.

The thing is 52% is an average. Your year, Horse sign and his year, Dog sign go fantastic together. However, your Ox, month sign clashes terribly with his Dragon, month sign. Also, your year, Fire sign is unlucky for his Metal, year sign.

What all this means is when this match is good, it's really good, but when it's bad, it's going to be really difficult.

As for what you can do to get closer, there are two things. The first is easier. There are two sides to you, the aggressive, uncompromising Ox (young month sign) and the diplomatic, gentle Water Rabbit (day sign). You will need to allow your Rabbit nature to dominate your Ox.  You see he doesn't have any Water or Wood in his chart. He is likely to be somewhat cold, stubborn and uncommunicative. You're going to have to carry most of the load when it's comes to making compromises and getting communication going. That could be difficult for you as it goes against your Ox and Horse signs. If you can't let your Rabbit come through, there are going to be lots of clashes of will.

Secondly, his strongest element is Metal. Your primary sign is a Fire sign, and Fire melts metal/destroys his Metal luck. You're going to have to tone down your Fire nature to bring out the best in him. Unfortunately all the "adjustments" that need to be made for on your shoulders, which is often the fate of Ox sign (your month) people.

This match is worth pursuing, but I have to tell you it's going to be a lot of work and put plenty of stress on you. To be honest you can do better, so go ahead but keep your eyes and mind open.

QUESTION: Dear Bill,

Thankyou for your answer, although, I must say it disappointed me a little, as I do feel a strong connection with this man.

With regard to the different sides of me, could I see him as a good match for me (and therefore a positive influence in my life) in that he might bring out the gentler, less aggressive side of me and make me tone down my "fire nature"?  What do you think?  Is this just a misguided or wishful idea? Could he have come in to my life to teach me a lesson?

Also, is my Fire nature responsible for the fact that I am often hot-headed, stubborn and argumentative?

I guess I should also assume that my Ox characteristics (aggression, lack of compromise) as well as my Fire sign also bring positive benefits to my personality?

Sorry to ask so many questions! I really value your response.
Best wishes,
Ali

Answer
Hi Ali,

Your strong connection to him is understandable since your year sign goes great with his.

The problem is your month signs conflict badly. This is the pattern of a fatal attraction rather than a match made in heaven. Those signs not only clash, he doesn't have any of the signs (Snake and Rooster) that bring out the best in the Ox, and you don't have any of the signs (Rat and Monkey) that bring out the best of his Dragon.

And, he doesn't have any of the signs (Sheep and Pig) that would bring out the best in your gentle, Rabbit side.

Actually I misspoke concerning the Ox. It's a Yin sign, so it's not really aggressive so much as it is implacable. That means strong determination, usually wanting to have your way and not willing to change when you head in a certain direction.

He has three, strong signs, so yes, your Ox traits contribute a lot of strength to the partnership and greatly appeal to him. You see he has three, strong sides and needs to have a strong partner.

Like I said, there's a lot of good here. I'm just letting you know there are likely to be lots of fireworks. Fortunately, you have a Rabbit sign, the symbol of diplomacy. He doesn't have one, so the burden of smoothing out the rough spots is likely to usually fall on your shoulders. If you think the relationship is worth the effort it takes, go for it.

Thank you for your question.

Chinese Astrology. I`ve done Chinese astrology for over 20 years, pimary experience Ming Shu style. I am NOT a psychic. I can't answer questions about when a particular event will occur, when/if your life will change, or what your spouse is going to be/look like. I do comment on relationships, career, personality analysis and life cycle chi, i.e., energy level and influences at each of the five stages of life. I evaluate specific relationships or can look at your love life in general. I can tell you your best career choices and whether the one you've chosen is good for you. And, I can identify the strong and weak times in your life. I've done work for Yahoo, astrology.com and onlinechineseastrology.com.

Experience

I've studied Chinese astrology for over 20 years now and done several thousand charts. My specialty is four pillars method, particularly as applied to evaluating relationships. I've also done Nine Star Ki and readings using Mah Jong tiles. My next step is to learn Purple Star astrology. It identifies many more chart details, but accurate readings are time consuming and dependent upon a lifetime of acquired experience.
