Question
Hello!!
I have question regarding my pluto in 1st house. My date of birth is 1st of february 1980, and time of birth is 22:10. I was born in Zagreb, Croatia. So, I have retrograde pluto in 1st house, 10 degrees away from ascendant . I want to know is my pluto on the ascendant because in some horoscope says I have pluto in 1st, but some say that I have pluto on the ascendant. And please can you explain to me what it means to have retrograde pluto in 1st/on the ascendant.
Thank you very much!!

Answer
Hi Tatjana,

According to the birth data you list, yes your
natal Pluto is a little more than 10 degrees
from the Ascendant/rising sign, in the 1st house.
Ascendant/rising sign 11 degrees 10 minutes Libra,
Pluto 21 degrees 45 minutes Libra.

Although your natal Pluto is not conjunct the
Ascendant/rising sign by DEGREE, it is conjunct
your Ascendant/rising sign by SIGN (Libra). So
those energies do hold true for you, at least
somewhat, and it is for sure in the 1st house.

Which energies, you might ask?

Pluto in the first (the closer to the Ascendant/
rising sign, the more potent) equates to, in part,
a personality that includes a good amount of
intensity and strength, and a tendency to be a bit
over-powering or dictatorial. Personal power, a
"presence," is often times very obvious to those
around you. Power and control issues may be a
common theme in your life (not necessarily on
your part, but of those close to you).

Toss in Pluto retrograde with its primary ruler
Venus in a weak house (6th), although empowered
through exaltation in Pisces, and secondary
ruler Saturn also in a weak house (12th, along
with being retrograde) and you have a Pluto
that is so far in this analysis, only moderately
healthy, yet located in prime real estate.
Occasional explosive outbursts are to be expected
because you have to channel that repressed
creative energy somewhere. Power and control
related to beauty, possibly. These are just
a few impressions of many possible.

However, please note that these notions must be
supported in the collective energy of the other 500+
factors (astrology and numerology).

Really, I would advise doing any sort of analysis
based on only one factor, in this case Pluto in the
first, retrograde.

Study the planet Pluto, as well as the sign Libra,
and also the first house. That's a good start, then
combine that insight with the rest of your studies
about the collective energy of your comprehensive
charts.

Expertise

Please note: I DON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. That means if you ask for a free reading, your question will be rejected.

I'm happy to answer general astrology questions, such as identifying a particular Moon sign or Sun sign that happens to be on the cusp, or identifying an Ascendant (Rising sign) or a ruler (or rulers) of a particular house, etc.

As an example, you might ask, "My 7th house (house of partnerships, relationships, etc.) cusp sign is Virgo, so which planet rules the house considering I have no planets in that house?"

Or, you might ask, for instance, "My natal Sun is on the cusp, in which sign is it?"

Again, I WON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. Also, if your question relates to modern, psychological astrology, I won't answer it since the bulk of my predictive work is done using more ancient forms (I find them far more accurate). I won't answer questions about Chinese astrology or Vedic/Hindu astrology either.

My expertise involves the application of ancient forms of astrology (and numerology) to interpret personal fate, and assess personality and compatibility. http://www.scottpetullo.com http://www.mystictwins.com
