Astrology/Difference between ashtakoot and ten porutham

Hello Sir,
I want to know what is the difference between ashtakoot(followed in North India) and 10 porutham(followed in south India). Is there any case where two horoscopes might match in one and not in the other.

Hi Kumaran.
There are different scoring methods adopted.
For example if we take Boys Star as Mrigashira1st padam of boy
with Satabhisha of girl based on Kuta scoring you may get26/32.
The minimum score is 18.
while in the Dasavida Poruttam based on number of agreements
you may get score of 6.5/13.score between 5 to 7 is considered good.
The minimum is 5.
Both are different.Though both may indicate passable.
But the crux of the problem is the scoring pattern itself.
I think going by the above scoring pattern gives completely wrong picture
of compatability.
I adopt the following scoring pattern with weightage based on my experience.
A.Weightage for Basic Horoscope:50%[study of relevant houses]
B.Weightage for Asta kuta:30%
C.Weightage for interplanetary support:20%
Minimum of 50% score in each of above division and overall is required.
So you see individual Horoscope study is most important and Asta kuta is
merely 30% weightage.
God bless
Om sri sai ram
