About Scott Petullo
Expertise

I'm happy to answer general astrology questions, such as identifying a particular Moon sign or Sun sign that happens to be on the cusp, or identifying an Ascendant (Rising sign) or a ruler (or rulers) of a particular house, etc.

As an example, you might ask, "My 7th house (house of partnerships, relationships, etc.) cusp sign is Virgo, so which planet rules the house considering I have no planets in that house?"

Or, you might ask, for instance, "My natal Sun is on the cusp, in which sign is it?"

I DON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE, SORRY. :)

Again, I WON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. Also, if your question relates to modern, psychological astrology, I won't answer it since the bulk of my predictive work is done using more ancient forms (I find them far more accurate). I won't answer questions about Chinese astrology or Vedic/Hindu astrology either.

My expertise involves the application of ancient forms of astrology (and numerology) to interpret personal fate, and assess personality and compatibility. http://www.scottpetullo.com http://www.mystictwins.com

Question
QUESTION: What are typical physical/mental/personality traits of a Scorpio-Sagittarius cusp rising ( like 2 degrees sag rising)? In a synastry chart between two people in a love relationship what is the significance of her mars conjunct his ascendant, and his venus conjunct her ascendant? Would one with a Libra rising with Pluto in Scorpio in the first house be somewhat considered having a libra-scorpio cusp ascendant? Thank you

ANSWER: Hi Joanna,

2 degrees Sag rising is in the early degrees of the sign, so right off the bat you have a minor affliction.

Next, look at Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius. In which house is it and how is its overall health?

You want physical and mental personality traits just from the Sagittarius rising? You need a lot more than the rising sign to get into what you're asking about.

However, Sagittarius being a masculine fire sign, you know right away that there will be a need to act as they see fit, without allowing anyone to impose restrictions on their behavior. They don't mind getting someone's input, but they will go their own way and make up their own mind in the end.

Note that there is some vacillation from outward (Cardinal) energy to inward (Fixed) since Sagittarius is a Mutable sign. If strong enough, it could show up as inconsistencies in the handwriting, for example.

Since we are focusing on the Ascendant, a more personalized area of the charts, look to see what planets aspect it.

Your second question appears to be unrelated. Meaning of her Mars conjunct his Ascendant and his Venus Conjunct her Ascendant depends on the health of the respective planets and their rulers, plus many other considerations.

Are you doing an analysis for a client?

Next you ask about Libra rising with Pluto in Scorpio in the first, if it could be considered Libra/Scorpio Ascendant. Good thinking, but I wouldn't go quite that far. First, consider Libra Ascendant and Venus, its primary ruler. Next, know that a potent Pluto in the first will certainly modify and color that Libra Ascendant, but it doesn't change the rising sign. Also, I'd take the modern planets as secondary considerations.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thanks.  In addition, for the Sag rising, Jupiter is in the fourth house, in addition to being square Uranus (Uranus is in the first house), and square Chiron (which is in the seventh house), and the ascendant is square the sun as well (Sun in the ninth).

But yes, the second question is totally unrelated: it's just a pattern I had noticed and wondered if there was any significance to it, since Mars and Venus typically accentuate masculine and feminine qualities and attractions.

With the Libra ascendant, Venus is square Pluto and Mars, with Venus in the fifth house and Pluto in the First, and mars in the second.  Venus is in opposition to the moon (moon in the 11th), and trine the ascendant and Chiron. Ascendant is square sun and Neptune (both in 3rd), and in opposition to Jupiter (in the 7th).
Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Joanna,

Nice for monetary concerns that Jupiter is in an angular house (although only one of many). Yes, I'd say you're on to something regarding the Mars and Venus connections. However, there are many other indicators that could mute the symbolic influence. Venus in 5th square Pluto and Mars doesn't bode well for one's love life, male or female. I'd have to examine all charts/dynamics to give further opinion. As many analysts do, I have unique delineation and predictive systems that really can't be taught.

Sincerely,
Scott Petullo
