I was wondering how you became involved with astrology and how you choose it for your carrer or hobby?
Also I was wondering the difference in Chinese Astrology vs regular, well what proctice you perform on people?

Hi Margaret,

I became involved in astrology because of a woman. Isn't that how a lot of things go in life!  ;)

Once upon a time i was attracted to an Asian woman. This, and memories of seeing the Vietnam War on TV every night, prompted me to involve myself in things Asian. Well, one night i was at this Korean-Chinese restaurant, which had Chinese astrology placemats. On them was a one or two line description of each sign.

I thought it was accurate as far as it went, so the next time i was in the book store i checked out a book on Chinese Astrology.  It turned out to be very accurate for personality analysis. Then i found a book that offered a simplified method of doing Chinese horoscopes. Again, those turned out to be remarkably accurate. So, i just kept going.

Chinese astrology has been a hobby for about 17 years. I've done volunteer readings at www.allexperts.com for about five. For the last year i've indirectly been a professional in that i have provided guidance and information to my son who does have a professional Chinese astrology site, www.firepig.com.

The primary differences between Chinese and Western astrology are that Chinese focuses on the year and uses the lunar calendar. Western focuses on the month and uses the solar calendar. Chinese astrology also makes use of five-element theory and other notions from Chinese philosophy, especially Taoism.

I use Chinese astrology to determine compatibility in relationships, for personality analysis, career analysis, and to outline the major themes in the five cycles of a person's life.
