Question
Hi. I seem to struggle with relationships, the sense I can't figure out who is right for me or if I am in love. I am trying to get more insight through astrology. Do you have any perspective? Do you have  key points on what I should look for in my chart.

Answer
Hi, Debra,

I don't do personal chart readings on this site, but I can tell you what you should look for in your own chart, if you have some knowledge of astrology.  If not, it would be best for you to see a professional astrologer and have him or her look at your chart in person.

These are the most important parts of a chart when it comes to relationships:
Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars and the 7th house.  With the 7th house, you would also look at the ruler of the 7th, and any planets in it.

First you would list all these bodies by sign, see what they have in common.  If all or most of them are in Fire, then your best partner would be in Air, and visa versa; fire would be second choice for fire; air second choice for air.  If all or most of them are in Earth, then Water would be best, and visa versa.  (second choice, again, would be the same element.)

If most of them are fire and air....then you still should look for someone who is fire or air.  Earth and water, then you should look for earth or water.

Now if you have a mixture of elements, then you must pay more attention to the individual bodies. The most important bodies for a woman would be Venus and Moon.  You would try to find a sign that is in harmony with both of these.

Relationships, though, are a lot more complex than just finding the right sign...otherwise, every guy around the world in that sign would be good for you.

So you need to compare the whole chart of someone you are interested in with your chart.  Only then can you tell if he is going to be a good match, or lots of problems.

If his Mars, for example, is conjunct your Venus...the sexual attraction will be strong and always there for the duration of the relationship.  If his Sun is conjunct, trine or sextile your Moon, then the two of you will have a bond that can hold you together in good times and bad.
But if, for example, his Saturn is square your Mars, you will slowly over time build up resentment, and he will constantly want to try to put you in your place.

I hope that gives you an idea where to start.  Good luck.

Expertise

I WILL BE HAPPY TO answer questions about astrology in general, the meanings of planets, signs, houses, aspects, asteroids, Chiron, etc. I use Western, Tropical Astrology. Please do not ask me questions about Vedic Astrology as I am not an expert on this.

I WILL NOT ANSWER PERSONAL QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR INDIVIDUAL CHART, such as "Will I get rich?" or "Will I get married?", or "Are we compatible?" I do have a private astrological practice, and if you need to ask those type of questions, contact me privately and we`ll discuss a possible astrologer/client relationship. Also, I cannot answer questions about Vedic Astrology, or Chinese Astrology.

Also, astrology is NOT "What is my lucky stone?" or "What is my lucky color?" or "What are my lucky numbers?" Any astrologer who gives you a lucky object, or number, based on your chart, is not a real astrologer, but someone who is giving in to superstition. In order to find out how to enhance your luck, you need to have an astrologer look at your whole chart, and tell you what areas you need to focus upon, how to accent your positives, and work to resolve any problems that exist.

Experience

I've been involved with astrology since 1969, taught classes on several occasions, written a number of articles and one book, and lectured around the USA, in Canada, Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland.
