Astrology/Venus in the 12th

Question
Hello Scott,

My previous question was :

I was born with Venus near the end of the 12th house, but it is not interpreted in the 1st, like other natal charts I have seen. First, why is this? And second, are there any benefits to having Venus in the 12th house? All I seem to hear is that it is a very bad influence.

I was born May 16, 1983 in Melrose park, IL at 8:37 a.m.

Answer
Hi Stevie,

Sorry for the delay and good that you provided your birth data.

Your Venus is about 3 degrees (less than 5 degrees) from the 1st cusp (Asc.). Therefore, it's wise to interpret it as being in the 12th and the 1st--equally.

So, it is in the 1st, despite what you've been told. Why have you been told otherwise? Perhaps it's due to modern astrology constructs, which have moved too far away from the tried and tested ancient ways.

Sure, there are benefits to a 12th house Venus: sensitivity, possible artistic talent (although somewhat on a subconscious level), and empathy.

The "bad" side of Venus in 12th has to do with secret love affairs and possibly secret enemies, for example, relating to love life or females in your life.

However, your Venus is in good shape. It's dignified through triplicity, term, and face, and there is a lack of major afflictions. Plus, it's near enough to the North Node (a "good" planet like Venus and Jupiter) to be impacted by the positive influence.

Sincerely,
Scott Petullo

Please note: I DON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. That means if you ask for a free reading, your question will be rejected.

I'm happy to answer general astrology questions, such as identifying a particular Moon sign or Sun sign that happens to be on the cusp, or identifying an Ascendant (Rising sign) or a ruler (or rulers) of a particular house, etc.

As an example, you might ask, "My 7th house (house of partnerships, relationships, etc.) cusp sign is Virgo, so which planet rules the house considering I have no planets in that house?"

Or, you might ask, for instance, "My natal Sun is on the cusp, in which sign is it?"

Again, I WON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. Also, if your question relates to modern, psychological astrology, I won't answer it since the bulk of my predictive work is done using more ancient forms (I find them far more accurate). I won't answer questions about Chinese astrology or Vedic/Hindu astrology either.

My expertise involves the application of ancient forms of astrology (and numerology) to interpret personal fate, and assess personality and compatibility. http://www.scottpetullo.com http://www.mystictwins.com
