Astrology/am I on a cusp?
Expert: Scott Petullo - 10/31/2007
QuestionQUESTION: Born March 23, 1950 at about 10:00 am in Evansville, Indiana
I don't feel like an Aries
ANSWER: Hi Dan,
According to the birth data you supplied, you do have Sun in Aries (i.e., you are "an Aries" as people say).
However, you have Mercury in Pisces. Mercury relates to, among other things, communication and intellect. The sign of Pisces also rules your 10th house cusp/the MC (highest point of the basic chart), so you do have some potent Pisces energy.
You've also got a Gemini Ascendant (Rising sign at the time of your birth) and a Taurus Moon.
It's important to look at the many other considerations too that either support or mitigate any one indicator. Best of luck to you!
Sincerely,
Scott Petullo

QUESTION: I do not want to insult you in any way but I must admit I am somewhat skeptical about weather any of this type of analysis really works....
ANSWER: Hi Dan,
It's good to be skeptical. It will keep you out of the New Age movement. Kidding.
Skepticism is healthy. Best way to view it is as theory. I'm constantly looking for evidence that would invalidate my theories (of personal fate, etc.).

QUESTION: Scott, How did you get involved in this and what is your background.....also, I know the planets affect the earth, tides etc so I believe they can have some affect on each of us....ie some shrimp will not reproduce if the magnetic flux lines around the earth are not correct....but to say that someone borned at a certain time will have specific traits...must have come from a lot of data collection and research....where did that originate from? I admit some of the characteristics of Aries and especially Pisces fit me but these things are pretty generic and they are often flattering and people are reluctant to say they are wrong when it flatters them.....still, I know me and I do have a good heart, am friendly and outgoing, but not competitive...at least not openly....I compete when it is friendly, but I do not like team sports for instance, but I like to challenge what I have done before....riding bikes is a good pastime for me because I can extend the goals of mileage per day each time I meet a goal...etc....I have a bad temper, but mostly it is aimed at inanimate things....I like people....but prefer small groups of good friends...I want to know who I am really, but I find that I am anything I want to be at the time...with sincerity. I guess that is why I am searching here...not sure if this is what i am looking for, but it sure is interspersing reading.
AnswerHi Dan,
My background is outlined on my site ("Bio" link, etc.):
http://www.scottpetullo.com.
Rather than saying the planets "affect" us, I'd say comprehensive astrology symbolizes fate. Astrological and numerological considerations don't make things happen in your life, they represent circumstances. "As above, so below." Read more about this on my site ("Astrology" link). Yes, lots of data collection and empirical research going back to Babylon, Sumeria, and before recorded history too.
The reason Aries or Pisces traits don't necessarily "fit" you is because astrology is a lot more than simple Sun signs.
Perhaps you would find more interest in handwriting analysis as it's, in my opinion, the best tool to uncover your subconscious personality (where all the fears, defenses, etc. reside), the true personality. See the graphology page on my site for more info.
Best of luck in your searching,
Scott Petullo
