Question
Would you be kind enough to give your brief take on the above Subject?

Appreciatively,

Lynne

Answer
Hi Lynne,

The general answer is that South Node conjunct Sun is an affliction, as the South Node is of Saturn/Mars-type energy. This philosophy is of the ancients. I favor the ancient methods.

In the basic chart you speak of, which house cusp does the Sun rule? All represented in that house would be in question with Sun conjunct South Node.

However, as you may know, you must weigh all considerations and any one variable can be mitigated by a host of others.

Although the South Node hinders the more positive planets (Venus, Jupiter, Sun, etc.) it also symbolically reduces the negativity of the more negative planets (Mars, Saturn, etc.). But please know that any planet can be a "good" or "bad" planet depending upon its overall health and placement.

Other variables must be considered: is it a day (Sun above the horizon) or night (Sun below the horizon) basic chart? Is the Sun in an angular house? Is it otherwise well-aspected? Is the Sun dignified (in Leo) or exalted (in Aries)? I'd have to examine the charts to give you more input.

Sincerely,

Expertise

Please note: I DON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. That means if you ask for a free reading, your question will be rejected.

I'm happy to answer general astrology questions, such as identifying a particular Moon sign or Sun sign that happens to be on the cusp, or identifying an Ascendant (Rising sign) or a ruler (or rulers) of a particular house, etc.

As an example, you might ask, "My 7th house (house of partnerships, relationships, etc.) cusp sign is Virgo, so which planet rules the house considering I have no planets in that house?"

Or, you might ask, for instance, "My natal Sun is on the cusp, in which sign is it?"

Again, I WON'T DO PERSONAL READINGS HERE. Also, if your question relates to modern, psychological astrology, I won't answer it since the bulk of my predictive work is done using more ancient forms (I find them far more accurate). I won't answer questions about Chinese astrology or Vedic/Hindu astrology either.

My expertise involves the application of ancient forms of astrology (and numerology) to interpret personal fate, and assess personality and compatibility. http://www.scottpetullo.com http://www.mystictwins.com
