Question
HI. I am a student pursuing  an architecture degree and presently in 4th year. I have been reading a lot about Lunatic architecture (moon base buildings) from a long time. I also have a keen interest in astronomy. Is there is connection between architecture and astronomy? Like for designing moon base buildings or hotel..an architect must have knowledge of maths and science. so there must be some institutions where an architect can further study in this field? Can you help me regarding this?

Answer
Dear Anubhav,

It amazes me that I am alive in this century, when someone is seriously asking me this question.  I hope it happens as soon as possible, and I hope YOU help design the buildings.

Look at these websites:

This company, which is located in florida, hopes to help create a base on Mars.  They also hope to be involved with efforts to colonize the asteroids and the moon.  They have internships.  Maybe you can apply for one.

This website is for the company creating the first hotel in outer space, which will be launched in 2012 (they hope).

This website is about designing the first base on Mars.
http://www.marshome.org/about.php

This NASA website is about designing a base on the moon.

I believe that, at most universities, you would probably need to design your own independent course of study.  I do not know if this is possible, where you go to school.

I hope this gets you started.  Please get back to me if you would like to discuss this more.

Keep Looking Up!

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
