Question
When I was a kid I studied the stars.  Now I would like to buy a telescope but just need something very basic as I don't want to spend a ton of money but at the same time I know you get what you pay for.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Answer
John, I live in the city, so I don't get to observe anything with a telescope nearly as often as I'd like.  I don't feel prepared to answer your question.  I recommend that you ask your question to Tom Whiting, or Paul Wagner.  They are the telescope pros around here.

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
