Astronomy/bright star

Question
Monday  15th November early evening a bright star to left of moon. Tuesday slightly to the right and just 'below'. I live on the south coast near Portsmouth. Name of star please?

Answer
Diana, it's probably Jupiter.  Try this website:
http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/Yourtel?lat=3.5782&ns=South&lon=354.531&fov=45&z...

Or, try Google Sky:
http://www.google.com/sky/

if you search for the moon, then search for Jupiter, you will see that they appear to be in the positions you describe, very near eack other, in the constellation Pisces.

The other possibility is that it is a mischievous owl with a flashlight, messing with your mind.  I hope that's not what it is.  That would be bad.

Keep Looking Up!

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
