Question
I have been studying solar radiation and gravity since 1999
when I invented the "Solar Plasma Meter" and during the original experiments saw a slow change in the readings. Can you tell me the number of degrees between the ecliptic and the black hole at the center of the galaxy? I believe the readings were Hawking radiation. Thank you. bobbyg

Answer
Hi Bobby,
5.6 degrees. On page 338 of my star Atlas, Uranometria, Vol 2 Southern Hemisphere, we see the galactic center coordinates are 17 Hr 45.7 min
of RA, Declination -29.00 degrees.
The ecliptic higher up (north of that exact location, at the same RA value) is -23.4 degrees Declination. (near it's southern-most point in the sky).    29 minus 23.4 = 5.6 degrees.
Although, realize that neither entity knows that the other one exists, or what those man-created... values are.
Clear Skies,

Astronomy has been my hobby/pasttime for over 50 years.  Currently own 3 telescopes, the largest of which is a 30 inch Newtonian truss Dob that is portable.I taught Astronomy/Meteorology at the University Level for 13 years before retiring in 1995. Being retired and home most of the time, I am able to answer all questions relatively quickly, unless it's a new moon weekend with good observing conditions.  No astrology questions please, or questions about alleged UFO picture identifications.
