Astronomy/Where our sun goes?

Question
Hello, there's a lot of 2012 garbage and it is extremely difficult for me to find where our sun goes - that is, does this picture tell truth? - http://www.2012supplies.com/sitebuilder/images/aligncover-540x307.jpg

I am not interested in any 2012 alignments, I only want to know if the sun is really approaching the Dark Rift and if it was really so distant from it some 3000 years ago (as the picture says)? So I am interested to know (pure astronomy, without 2012 nonsense) what will be the position of our Sun (possibly with respect to Dark Rift) in 2020, 2100, etc? You can also provide me with some links. Thank you!

Answer
I'm sorry to be late answering this.  You might want to look at this website:
http://www.2012hoax.org/dark-rift

This talks about the local area of our galaxy, through which our sun is moving.
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2009/23dec_voyager/

I am glad you are not falling for this stupid 2012 nonsense.  A lot of people are getting sucked into it.  Good for you, for using your brain.

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
