Question
Hi, I read from a online article, that our world may be a Hologram, I got some question about it

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20126911.300-our-world-may-be-a-giant-holo...

1.If scientist refer to universe could be a hologram, what does it mean?
How can our world be a hologram? does it mean our world is FAKE?

2.Does it mean there is another universe / world? what is the real world?

3.Does it REALLY mean our perception of the world/universe is only visual illusion?

4.If there is no solidity in world, then why do the world appear solid to us?

5.what about weight and mass and force?
Does force exist? I think of cos do....same as gravitational energy exist, hence weight exist.
What about mass? how can get the information of mass by just looking at the "surface"?

6.Does this mean reality is "holographic"? Is everything is real? is the world still the reality? Whatever happen does happen right?

7.Is the reality 2D or 3D? Are we living in 2D world???

8.Where do the GEO600 detect so-called "Holographic noise" from? Where do they heard the noise? Is the noise discover in space? or on earth? what the big deal about the "noise"? Is it like those noise we heard on radio?

Just to share a video, I understand holographic principle from there.

9.when we die in holographic reality? do we really "die"?

Answer
What a question! I will try to be concise.

A hologram is not a state of existence. It is a virtual 3-D image and is not real.
Answers to questions 1 through 9:
1. Scientist is "high". The world is not fake.
2. There may be other universes in parallel or series with ours. The real one is the one you are in.
3. No. If this world was an illusion, you wouldn't be getting an answer. (I don't answer illusions)
4. Three dimensional objects are solid and they do exist and appear solid because they are. Don't give false assumptions validity. (Solidity?)
5. They are all real.
6. and 7.  Reality is not confined to dimensions. Thoughts have no physical manifestation but they do exist.
8. I won't even comment on this. (Besides the video was pulled from that site)
9. There is no holographic reality. Holographs and holograms are virtual. They don't "die", they cease to exist at the end of the program if virtual.

Hopefully I have helped answer your questions without too much sarcasm. I do not mean to offend, and I was certainly not trying to be funny. I always answer valid questions no matter how hard they are.

A favor I ask of everyone. I will gladly answer your questions, but please only one or two questions per question. :Đ Thank you

Expertise

General and specific questions about the solar system and stellar and galactic astronomy, are what I can easily answer off the top of my head. For example, what is the largest planet in the solar system? How far away is the moon? Have there been any confirmed planets in orbit around stars other than the sun? How many stars are there? The tougher ones like explaining the big bang theory and black holes I will leave to the PhD’s. Even though I could muster an answer, I would have to research it more than I would like. I would also like to answer questions that involve Astronomy with other sciences, chemistry, biology, physics, geology and mathematics as long as they are not PhD level.

Experience

I have been into astronomy since I was 8 years old. I have kept detailed journals of my observations through small telescopes. Over the years I have participated in amateur observation projects for organizations like ALPO. My personal research has involved "discovering" the moons of Jupiter with a 4½-inch Newtonian reflector without any outside information like charts and tables. In a summer long project, I determined the existence of and plotted the orbits of the four major moons of Jupiter. From these observations, my data on orbital elements was surprisingly accurate (orbital radius and orbital period).
