Question
Dear Ed, I view the universe from just north of Sydney, Australia. (Southern Hemisphere)And am interested in viewing the double star located in Cygnus (Albireo). Is there a time when this Constellation is seen in the Southern Hemishere? Robin

Answer
Robin,

If you didn't know about this website before -- today is your lucky day!

Some of the links near the bottom will be especially helpful to you.  You can find the webmaster's e-mail down there too, if you want.

That link has so much awesome stuff, I put it in here first.  But to directly answer your question, try this link:
http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/uncgi/Yoursky?z=1&lat=33.8833&ns=South&lon=151.2...

You should hit "update," and enter various times of night for viewing.  At the time I tried it, Albireo was visible waaaaaay up near due north.  You may need to stand on top of a hill, or a building.  It's very close to the horizon.  But if you're lucky, you can just make it.

Keep Looking Up!
--Ed

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
