Question
Well if the moon travels 1,5 inches evry year and the moon couse the tsunamis If it gets 2 far will there be less sunamies and 1 day wouldt be 24 hours. Sebasrtian Lara, Colombia
Hi,
The moon does not cause tsunamis, but normal repeatable and predictable times. In fact ships use high tides to come into dockyards and go out to sea from dockyards.
Tsunamis are caused by eartquakes occuring on the sea floor or on edges of continental shelfs, that trigger huge under water land slides, displacing huge amount of water in a short time.
Albeit, as the moon spirals away, over time, high tides will get lower and lower!
