Question
why it is unlikely that Pluto was created at the same time as the rest of the planets in the solar system?

Answer
Hi Steve,
Sorry for the delay.
Two things resulted in this slow response.
One, your question was quite a fundamental one.
Second, I tried my best to cross-check my knowledge on this subject.

Coming to your question, It appears astronomers are yet to conclude on the subject.

Some say it is NOT a planet at all but an object fronm the class of objects known as KBOs (Kupier Belt Objects).

Some feel that it IS a planet by all definitions.

If we take it as a KBO, it may have been formed well before of after the solar system was formed.

If we consider it to belong to the same nebula from which the solar system condensed, it would have formed concurrently.

Well, so there is the answer.
Full of uncertainity, as many things in astronomy are.
