Question
in which diretion does the moon appear to move during the course of day

Answer
Hi,
The earth's own rotation makes the moon appear to go east to west at 15 deg /hour.
Simultaneously, the moon's own orbital motion makes it appear to go half a deg /hour in the opposite direction.
The resulting motion is the sum total of both these motions.
ie at 14.5 deg/hour.(east to west).
There is a very beautiful site explaining all this and more at http://physics.csustan.edu/Astro/Help/VaryingSky/VaryingSky.htm
Have a look at it if you can find some time.
