Question
which of these planets is least like earth in size and composition? mars, venus, mercury, or jupiter

Answer
Gregory,

This question is not very hard.  You should be able to figure it out!  Seriously, dude!  If you can't answer questions like this, you are going to be in big trouble when it's time for final exams.  Read your textbook, and listen in class more!

But I will help.

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, (and also Pluto), are all what are known as terrestrial planets, which means they are (relatively) small, and rocky.  Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are much, much larger planets, composed mostly of gases.  They are called gaseous giants, or sometimes Jovian planets.  They are very different from Earth in size (they're bigger) and composition (they are made up of gas, not solid matter).

That should answer your question.  See if you can find this information in your notes from class, or your textbook!  It will help you "get with the program" a little.

Keep Looking Up!

Expertise

I am not a professional astronomer by any means, but astronomy has been an interest of mine since childhood, and I am well-informed on the subject. If unable to answer someone`s question personally, I will know how to quickly find the answer online, because I keep myself informed about developments in the field and I know where to look for information.

Experience

I worked in an observatory for awhile at one point, doing various interesting things with a computer.
